Quick Photo of Samson and Delilah

Yes, it is true! There are now two puppies at the Carey home! Samson's sister Delilah(just had to...sorry chelsea!) joined us on Tuesday and is now working on crate training. They are really funny to watch together and for the most part she is doing well.

Here they are together under the couch!

Letter to K1's class

Kellyn is the "star of the week" next week and part of being star allows us to write a letter that will be read out loud to her class on Tuesday. This is my letter.

To class:

I am so honored to get the opportunity to tell you about our Kellyn!

Kellyn is our first born daughter by just 7 minutes! She was born at 8:06am on January 16, 2001. Even when I was pregnant with her I knew that she was going to be high spirited and full of energy! She loved to move, wiggle and occasionally kick her twin, Kiara. Kellyn wasn’t supposed to be born first but inched her way into position and was born first!

Kellyn is the natural leader of our daughters. Kellyn and I share the privilege and sometimes downfalls that comes with being born first. She has a love of learning and shows a certain empathy that is enviable. When I see her reading, learning or asking questions about different subjects, I just know that she is destined for greatness!

And to my dear Kellyn,

May you continue to show us just who you are as your natural personality develops more and more each day. Never forget that we will love you no matter what and that we value you in our family. God gave me you as a gift, and I will never forget the first time I laid eyes on you. I finally knew why I was born.

And although I am sure you are crying by now, one last thing I want you to remember. Someday when you are older we probably won’t get along all that well, but never forget that you are loved not only by your parents and family but by God himself who made you and knew you before you were born.

We love you baby girl! Don’t grow up too fast!

Mom and Dad XOXO

Slim Down Sunday

I think it went pretty well. Confession...I ate TOO MANY ice cream cones(seriously...my major weakness), and even though they were "diet" ice cream eating the entire box of them doesn't help things.

Thankfully I was still able to lose 2.2lbs this week making my entire loss so far 6lbs.

I am not as proud of it this week though.

I pledge to get back to journaling this week. This really helps!

I hope you all had great weeks!

And on this day...

Do you remember where you were when Princess Diana died? How about September 11th?

Today will be one of those days for many Americans.

My girls came home with such excitement from what I thought would be a normal day of school. They told me that they got to watch the inaugration(sp?) on tv and one of them even had a child in their class who was invited and in attendance at our nations capital.(I am sure with his parents...who are doctors).

They are so excited..

So I got to wondering why they had such vigor(trying not to burst their bubble). They simply stated "because he is black". Ahh HA! I am glad that they are excited that we have an African American president because that means that they understand a bit of what we were talking about yesterday(segregation, slavery, Martin Luther King Jr. etc). That's all they know. That this was a day in history and I am ok with that.

I think that it is our duty as conservative Christian parents to support our country in a way that displays to our children just how precious our freedom is. This is not a time to point out flaws. I am sure there will be days for that and I am hesitant to even allow them to be excited when I know in the days to come our President will more than likely make choices that aren't Godly.

So I ask this again and encourage you to write it down and even take a picture for your kids. Will you remember what you were doing today, on this very historic day?

Slim down Sunday-Week 3

This was a GREAT week numbers wise!

35 was the number of weekly points I ate this week.
23 was the number of daily points I ate each day.
0 was the number of times I worried about eating all my points and...
3.2 was the number of pounds I lost!!!!!

Thus proving(so far) that if you eat all your points you have better results! I didn't believe it when my favorite leader said it but I gave it a shot anyways(come on...guiltless points...I AM IN!)and it worked quite well!

I am still NOT motivated to work out. I am not sure if it is due to the extreme cold, lack of daylight or lazyness but just so you know...still not doing it! I will let you know if this changes or if I even think about working out. At the moment I am thinking alot about how crazy busy I am going to be in February with work and how excited I am to get back out to show everyone this new catalog and great new promotions! And it doesn't hurt that I am going to earn MANY cruise points!!!

So, I am off. The dog is doing GREAT with his litter training! He has actually been going to the box to potty all afternoon! GREAT PROGRESS!!!
