Flashing by for a Flashback Friday!

My grandpa sent me this picture via email the other day. It is of my mom and I when I was probably just a bit over 1.

And just fyi...I am alive but working very hard to get all my parties in for February. Seriously...this has been a very hard month that has certainly been blessed with many hours of work and learning about my limits!

I will be out of this paper coma soon...I hope!

More about the Kargs

I got this message on my wall(facebook) today. HOW AMAZING IS HE???

(Jamie Wombacher wrote)
Hey. I read about the Karg family on your blog, and then noticed that they were in Iowa City. My sister is on the board of directors for Basket of Hope in Iowa, and so I called her and had her deliver a basket to the family today. Basket of Hope delivers baskets full of Christian books, cds, toys, etc. to family's suffering from an infant loss, or dealing with a life threatening illness. My sister started the infant loss part of the program after she had a stillborn little boy in June 2003. She said the family was amazing, and so very faithful! My sister told her that she heard about the family through a friend of a friend of mine, reading her blog, and she thought that was God's awesome power!

Heartbroken

For about an 30 minutes each day I read the updates of the blogs that I follow. Some are really great updates and some send me spiraling towards my knees really fast.

I know that God has a plan. And I know that his plan is for good. I just struggle with wondering why certain families seem to have to endure such heartache in the process. I can't begin to tell you just how much I take for granted how healthy my kids are. I do. And then I think "oh woe is me...we don't own a house, have a shiny new car or the "things" that others do". HOW SELFISH am I???

Maybe it is human nature. Maybe it is more a sinful nature but when I read these updates I am shocked back into reality. My heart actually aches for these moms. I am actually brought to tears for thier situations and am always amazed by the stregnth that I am sure I wouldn't have in the same situation. I just can't believe that they are able to wake up in such a nightmare each day and walk on.

I also pray. The kind of prayer with absolute disregard for what some looking in the window would think. The kind of prayer that my children have grown accustumed to seeing(they will probably fit in a Baptist church quite well). I want so badly for God to move in their lives. For God to use their stories to show the world that he is in control and loves everyone.

So I ask you to pray.

I am particularily drawn to this family. I came upon them through Harper's story. God is using them. Please join me in bringing Veiyah to his throne.

A year in review- Uppercase!

I started uppercase on 2/11/08 on a whim. I did talk with Sean about it and a few others but generally got the "uh-oh she is going to do something that won't work" response. It's not like those I love were doubting me, but they were trying to look out for me and for that I love them!

However, this year has been FANTASTIC!!!!! I am blessed to have so much work in an less than appealing economy, and I know that is a God thing. I have felt his hand in my business since I heard that small voice asking me to give up control in May. I can't always explain how I know that God is actually talking to me, but I know he was there and was asking me to surrender what I was holding close and trying desperatly to control.

Just a few stats that to me are quite staggering-
-I have 689 customers.
-I lead a team of 20.
-I sold $33374.83 in product.
-I demonstrated at 66 open houses.
-I have tithed off my business each month.

Why do I tell you this??? God is FAITHFUL!!!!! He encourages me on a consistant basis by customers calling, emailing and ordering online. He has been there for me when I feel like a failure and shown me that when I let him in, he will provide!

I know it sounds silly but for me this small business is all about God and family. The two most important things in my life!

Perhaps you can help???

Tonight we watched Men in Black for really no great reason other than Sean and I both watched it when we were pre teens and it was good then...so we figured we would share that with our girls.

So here's the question... What are the (clean) movies that you enjoyed in the 90's??? I remember that we had some at our house that were pretty squeaky but I am at a loss as to what they are now... Here are the few I can remember that I think I want them to see...

-Free Willy(Sean is MAJORLY protesting this)
-Dennis the Menace(HEY MR. WILSON!!!!)

HELP!!! What are some more???

And...it's gone!

Well I can't say that I didn't enjoy stamping/paper crafting...but alas. NO TIME!

So I listed my stuff on craigslist and sure enough...it is all gone!

I would have taken a picture but you would have been sick and I would have been reminded of just how much I spent on stamping.

Anyone want to guess at how much I got for it all?????

Awesome new gadget!!!

The WHIRLEY POP!!!!!!

This is "crank & stir" stovetop popcorn maker that makes delicious and HEALTHY popcorn!!! The best part...you control the flavors, oils, and amount of corn you want.

I bought it at Bed, Bath and Beyond(yes...in the beyond section)for $19.99. It comes with three packs of movie popcorn mix(all there so you just cut it open and pour it in). This is NOT the healthiest choice though. You can choose to use as little as 1 tsp. of cooking oil to cook your batch of popcorn which makes it pretty much 0 points for as much as you want!!!

There is also recipes in the little book that comes with it for kettle corn, savory corn and tons of (I am sure not so healthy) other choices!

I think this really appealed to me because I got SICK of microwave popcorn. It is such a healthy snack but when you are eating it too often...you get bored.

I think this will work better!

Slim Down Sunday- Week 4

I lost another 2 pounds this week. 2.0 to be exact!

I probably still ate too many ice cream bars. Emotional eating at its finest!

So, I am not terribly proud of the two pounds but...I did lose them!

I also got a whirly pop today!!!! I am kinda excited about that! I love the idea that I can make popcorn more flavorful AND healthier!!! AWESOME!

I hope you all had great weeks!
